Peixaria Ar Livre é a peixaria da rua onde moro, na Ribeira. A relação vem de sempre: minha avó frequentava, minha mãe frequenta, eu cresci ali. Transicionei e continuo frequentando esse espaço, de maneira respeitosa, e isso diz muito sobre o que acredito: que fotografar é fruto de relação construída. Fotografo ali desde 2018. É uma comunidade que já enfrentou muita dificuldade pra manter sua atividade, mas que faz parte da identidade do bairro. Se organizam em cooperativa para que o trabalho exista e resista às pressões que vêm de fora. Estar com eles é estar diante de uma conexão verdadeira com a leitura das marés, com o entendimento da pesca, com um saber que nos coloca em reflexão sobre o alimento, sobre o tempo, sobre a mudança das coisas e das sazonalidades.

Peixaria Ar Livre is the fish market on the street where I live, in Ribeira. The relationship goes back as far as I can remember: my grandmother used to go, my mother still goes, I grew up there. I transitioned and continue to be part of that space, respectfully, and that says a lot about what I believe: that photographing is the fruit of built relationship. I've been photographing there since 2018. It's a community that has faced real difficulty in keeping its work alive, but that is part of the neighborhood's identity. They organize as a cooperative so that the work can exist and resist the pressures that come from outside. To be with them is to be in the presence of a genuine connection to the reading of tides, to the understanding of fishing, to a knowledge that puts us in reflection about food, about time, about the way things change and the rhythm of the seasons.
